Watchlist

5 AI labs to follow in an engineer transfer tracker

A starting watchlist for OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, Meta AI and Mistral AI, with links to company profiles and sources.

A starting watchlist, not a ranking

These five organizations are a useful starting point because they are represented in Transfer's tracked company registry. This is an editorial selection, not a ranking of research quality, compensation or hiring volume. Use each company's source link and the original move announcements to evaluate the records.

1. OpenAI

Open the OpenAI company page to browse the associated profiles and curated career stories. Read the full timeline when someone has more than one OpenAI chapter. A previous role at a lab does not mean the person moved directly from that lab in their latest transition.

2. Anthropic

Anthropic's page connects its curated announcements with the broader collected directory. The distinction matters: a source-linked announcement and a profile listing a current role provide different kinds of evidence. Use the company filter to inspect those sources person by person.

3. Google DeepMind

Keep Google DeepMind and the broader Google company context visible. A parent-company career entry can be less specific than an identifiable research-team entry. Transfer uses an explicit registry so company and team names can be reviewed instead of assuming all Google employees are AI researchers.

4. Meta AI

Meta AI is tracked as an identifiable AI-team scope. That is narrower than every employee at Meta. Role filters help explore engineering, research and leadership records, but job titles alone cannot prove the person's exact internal team or responsibility.

5. Mistral AI

Mistral AI adds another company to the watchlist and a route into the connected career histories. A company with fewer collected records is not necessarily hiring less. Treat sparse results as a coverage limitation and check the linked original profiles.

Build your own comparison

Start with the company pages, then compare dated moves and inspect the source trail. Add other tracked labs and AI teams when they fit your question. A useful watchlist helps you investigate; it should not imply that this sample represents the whole industry.
